A year ago the Hotel de France came me to me for new, custom-made tableware. This is a restaurant (and hotel) with history. Famous for it’s grand chef André Daguin, the brothers Casassus have taken up the baton of a great tradition of excellent cuisine founded on the precepts of quality ingredients that are locally sourced.

Initially I supplied them with espresso beakers and saucers, specially sized to their requirements. Now they have added dinner plates, bowls and condiment beakers to the collection.

Another exciting element that they’ll be adding to their tables is a design called Orbit. This is an interlocking centrepiece composed of three or more discs, on which dishes can be placed. Their design will be a re-working of an existing design and is a direct example of how stimulating to a craftsperson and designer, bespoke commissions can be!
